Steven Isserlis Returns to Wigmore Hall in Live Broadcast Recital

Wigmore Hall and BBC Radio 3 resumed their daily 's lunchtime recital series in June with live broadcast performances without audiences in the hall.

Steven Isserlis, a Wigmore regular for many years,  returned on June 8th with pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen and works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Fauré - to enthusiastic reviews:

"Judging from his playing…the celebrated cellist was feeling like a musical prisoner savouring his first day of freedom. Everything about his recital with the pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen spoke of a performer carried away by a reunion with his instrument and his art."

Eric Lu's Chopin Album Is Enthusiastically Received

Gramophone:

"Lu explores each of these miniatures with the utmost poetry and sensitivity... But it’s how Lu has fashioned the set into a single whole that is the most inspiring aspect. "

BBC Music Magazine:

Five Stars ***** | Instrumental Choice

"Lu's playing is in a rare class – one that has a vacancy since Radu Lupu’s retirement. This type of sensitivity and emotional intuition does not grow on trees, especially not when served by such a technique, with richly singing tone and delicate fleetness of finger."

France Musique:

Classical Disc of the Day

"An interpretation full of poetry"
